Smart Women, Smart Money conference draws large crowd

The annual conference presents strategies and information for women looking to take charge of their finances.

BOISE - Close to 1,500 women attended the annual “Smart Women, Smart Money” financial conference at the Boise Centre Friday.

During the conference, women spent the day learning about financial information and strategies, and also getting motivated to propel themselves into the world of "smart money."

Since the first Smart Women, Smart Money event more than 15 years ago, Idaho State Treasurer Ron Crane has been a huge part in growing the event.

Over the years, the event has helped give women an opportunity to learn real world skills that Crane says has made a difference for many families in Idaho.

"Over the years we have had a lot of ladies that have shared their story, that have written me a letter or come to me and told me their story of how they had made changes in their lives. Like, how they have gotten out of debt or gotten on a budget, they have paid off their home mortgage. They have gotten control of their finances and that's what we are here to do," said Crane.

The high energy event also took time to honor one of our own, KTVB General Manager and President Doug Armstrong.

Armstrong has been a huge part of growing the event over the years, and was honored Friday before he retires from KTVB next month.

KTVB is the 2018 title sponsor of the Smart Women, Smart Money financial conference.
