BOISE -- Boise School District administrators are trying to alleviate fears after an out-of-state social media post sparked concern from parents and students.

The threatening post circulated on Snapchat, and was seen by several students at Capital High, who alerted authorities. The snap shows a boy holding a gun and lying in bed, with the words "CHS I'm going out with a bang."

In a letter to parents Monday, Capital High Principal Sandy Winters wrote that she wanted to reassure everyone in the district "that the threat does NOT involve Capital High School."

Investigators determined the threat was made out of Clovis, New Mexico, and wasn't aimed at Capital High. A suspect has been taken into custody, Winters wrote.

"Please know the safety and security of our students and staff remains a top a priority in our schools," she wrote. "Our Boise School District procedures and policies guide us in this regard."

Parents, guardians, and students are encouraged to report any school safety concerns or tips to school staff, administrators, or Crime Stoppers at 208-343-COPS.
