You've probably heard this from your mom while growing up: don't waste your food!
This morning, a cheese Thanksgiving *Meal Makeover* is on the menu.
"So here's my version of the fried mac bites," says Celebrity Chef Jacoby Ponder, as he demonstrates how to cook a meal that he hopes will bring the whole family together.
Mac & Cheese (already made)
2 cups of shredded mozzarella
1 ½ cup of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Panko bread crumbs.
Take a scoop of mac & cheese, the shape it into a ball, just like you would do to make ground beef into meatball. Then, base your macaroni ball in flour, then to the egg wash, and then the Panko mixture.
When describing when he likes to prepare the mac & cheese, Chef Ponder said, "What I did (to make it) better so it holds better… you freeze them overnight. Or, just (put) them in the freezer for about an hour or so,"
After the balls are golden brown, take them out of the frying pan and put them into the fire.
"We're going to pop them right in the oven on about 300 degrees for maybe about for maybe about 5 minutes to melt that cheese," noted Ponder.
While the mouthwatering melted mac balls bake, garnish a plate with wedge lettuce to add an extra touch to your presentation.
Chef Ponder then used a thermometer to check the inside of the balls, "At this point we're just probing them to check the internal temperature (to) make sure our cheese is melted."
Take your two-cup mix of shredded mozzarella and one and a half cup of shredded sharp cheddar, sprinkle on top the baked cheese balls and let bake for a few minutes!
Once the cheese is melted onto the balls, you are ready to put the mac *cheese balls onto a plate and serve after letting it cool.
