BOISE -- Airport Way at Vista Avenue has reopened to traffic after an accident sent two pedestrians to the hospital this morning.
The accident happened around 6:20 a.m. The road reopened shortly after 9 a.m.
Boise Police say the collision involved a car and two pedestrians. A man and woman were injured and taken to the hospital. Both were alert and talking with emergency personnel. Their injuries are not life-threatening, but the man's injuries are said to be more serious.
Motorists headed to the Boise Airport from Airport Way were diverted away from the accident.
This incident is still under investigation. Officers with the Boise Police Collision Reconstruction team are investigating.
Police say it appears the pedestrians were crossing Vista Avenue toward the airport when they were hit by a passenger car driven by an adult male. The car was traveling south on Vista Avenue turning east onto Airport Way when the collision occurred. The pedestrians appeared to be headed to the airport and had carry-on luggage with them.
Officers say it appears the pedestrians were crossing Vista in a crosswalk. There is a signal light at the intersection. It is still unclear who had the right of way.
