McCALL, Idaho -- Sunday was the last day of the Winter Carnival in McCall.

The 10-day celebration of all things winter began last Friday.

The festivities included traditional favorities like the Mardi Gras Parade, snow sculptures, sledding and music, along with some new events like bull riding.

Organizers said this year's Winter Carnival is important for the community of McCall to help make up for a late start to winter.

They said this has been one of the biggest second weekend turnouts in the history of Winter Carinval.

"Hotels have been booked solid, restaurants have been booked solid," said McKenzie Christensen, the director of the Winter Carnival. "I've heard several people say they've done record numbers. In general, it's been a very good economic boost for McCall.

Hundreds gathered around Payette Lake for Saturday night's fireworks show.
