MERIDIAN -- A man police say impersonated a police officer was arrested Saturday morning.
Meridian Police arrested Christopher Roden, 22, of Meridian on a $100,000 felony “Unlawful Exercise of Functions of a Police Officer” warrant at approximately 9:30 a.m. The warrant came out of Idaho County.
The Idaho County Sheriff's Office said that on February 12, they received a report from a 24-year-old female who said she had been pulled over by an unmarked unit with flashing lights on Highway 95 near milepost 238. The woman reported that the male subject was not wearing any law enforcement identification, but he was wearing a sidearm.
The female reported the subject requested only her driver's license. He went back to his vehicle for a minute, then returned her driver's license and advised her to drive safe. Throughout the incident, the female felt uncomfortable.
The female advised that she later saw the suspect vehicle with its flashing lights pulled in behind a white pickup truck in a pullout south of milepost 238. She was able to provide a description of the suspect and the vehicle. The vehicle was a grey 2007 GMC Envoy with Idaho peace officer license plate 4185J.
After an investigation, Idaho County was granted the arrest warrant. The Clearwater County Sheriff's Office assisted Idaho County with information on Roden's whereabouts. An Idaho County deputy then coordinated with the Meridian Police Department.
Meridian Police tracked Roden to an apartment in the 1800 block of E. Overland Road. After a brief standoff and negotiations, Roden surrendered to Meridian Police without incident.
If you or anyone you know were pulled over by this vehicle, had any contact with or observed the suspect vehicle, you are asked to contact the Idaho County Sheriff's Office at (208) 983-1100.
