BOISE -- Boise Police say three teenage boys have been will be charged in connection with the recent vandalism of Boise Fire Department equipment.
Officials say on March 14, the vandals set fires and destroyed about $5,000 worth of emergency vehicles and equipment that was stored inside the old Armory building.
Detectives were able to identify three suspects after receiving a citizen's tip to Crime Stoppers.
"We very much appreciate the public's help on this case. No one wants to find their property has been damaged by vandals, but when it's emergency rescue equipment, that's especially significant since it impacts public safety," said Det. Craig Nixon of the Boise Police Property Crimes Unit. "The citizen tip, matched with evidence we gathered at the scene certainly helped us find who did this."
Police say the three suspects are all 14 years old and live near the old Armory.
The investigation is continuing, but officers say they will charge the teens with felony burglary, arson and malicious injury to property.
Additionally, their parents could be held responsible for the damages.
