BOISE -- Three people were taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after a military truck rolled over on Interstate 84 east of Boise. The accident was reported at 1:50 p.m.
Idaho State Police say Specialist Donald VonPraag, 22, Boise was driving an LRVP military cargo vehicle westbound in the right lane and drifted onto the shoulder. He then over-corrected and crossed both lanes of traffic, causing the vehicle to roll over in the median.
VonPraag had to be extricated from the truck and was flown by Life Flight to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. His injuries are unknown.
There were two passengers in the truck -- Leif Sorensen, 43, of Rexburg and Donn Drury, 34, of Hansen. Drury was taken by ground ambulance to St. Al's and Sorensen was also taken to the Boise hospital by private vehicle.
Police say all three men were wearing seatbelts. All three were treated and released from the hospital.
The westbound interstate was reduced to one lane between exit 64 (Black's Creek Road) and the Boise Port of Entry. Both lanes were reopened again around 3:30 p.m.
Police say traffic in the eastbound lanes was slowed by another accident on the interstate in that same area. Eastbound traffic was limited to one lane for more than an hour. Both lanes are open again.
