BOISE -- They don't have big "Black Friday" advertising inserts in the newspaper, but dozens of Boise businesses are hoping shoppers will make tomorrow "Local Friday."

Last week the web site DealChirp.com made its debut.

There you'll find a number of deals on a wide variety of gift ideas from locally-owned businesses.

"We've got deals posted anywhere from food specials to clothing to organically grown Christmas trees, produce, books, music... a great variety of deals from local businesses," said David Murray with DealChirp.com

Local business owners want shoppers to take a closer look at neighborhood businesses, and learn the benefits of going "outside the box."

"There's a good reason to support local," said Murray. "It's been proven that 68 cents to the dollar spent at local businesses stays in the state, in Boise particularly. As opposed to 43 cents to the dollar when spent at a big box chain."

Think Boise First is part of DealChirp.com, which provides locally owned businesses an inexpensive online/social media marketing platform.
