BOISE -- Idaho is one of seven states getting federal stimulus cash to map and plan future broadband access across the state.
The total grant award is $1.8 million, spread over several years.
Officials say the money will be used for two different projects.
The first calls for spending $1.3 million on collecting data on the availability, speed and location of broadband access across the state. The mapping project will be done between 2009 and 2011.
The remainder will be spent on planning for expanding broadband access over the next three years.
