BOISE -- The father of a teenager from Boise doing volunteer work at a hospital in Chile says he heard from his son at about noon on Sunday after a long day and a half of silence following the magnitude-8.8 earthquake there.
Breck Seiniger of Boise says he received an e-mail from his 16-year-old son Sam Seiniger, who has been staying with one of the neurosurgeons who works at the hospital in the city of Concepcion.
The city is near the epicenter of the quake that hit Saturday morning.
In the e-mail Sam writes that he is fine but they are sleeping outside because of the aftershocks.
Sam graduated two years early from Boise High School last year and has been in Concepcion since August taking the initial steps toward his goal of becoming a neurosurgeon.
