BOISE -- Department of Transportation crews cleared a rock slide on Highway 21 between Idaho City and Avalanche Alley.

The road is open to Grandjean Road, north of Warm Springs Creek Airport, but heavy rain is making the area unstable.

From Grandjean Road to the Custer-Boise County Line, the 12-mile stretch of Highway 21 which is also known as "Avalanche Alley" is closed.

The Idaho Transportation Department shut down the highway earlier this week as a precaution for travelers' safety.
