MERIDIAN -- A high-speed chase through downtown Meridian Wednesday evening has ended in an arrest.

Meridian Police say their suspect reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour.

That man is John Handegard.  Police initially tried to pull him over for reckless driving, but he took off.

Eventually a tire blew and Handegard was forced to stop at 5:40 p.m.

The chase began at the corner of Fairview and Hickory in Meridian, and eventually ended in downtown Meridian at King Street and East Second Street.
