Valley County, McCall, Donnelly, Cascade, and the Rest of the World, We need your help. Movie Distributors are forcing an upgrade on theaters. It is called Digital Cinema and it is a very costly upgrade. The movie companies are forcing this upgrade in February 2013, so time is closing fast.
Digital Cinema benefits the movie companies by up to $30,000,000 per film released, but there are some local benefits for us too.
Here are some benefits about getting new equipment:
Digital projectors mean we will get new movies faster. The Roxy has been proud to premier up to 10 movies a year. But outside of those premiers we have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for the movies that opened in LA and New York today. With this system we will get them in 2-4 weeks.
Movies won’t come to us scratched and beat up! Ever been to The Roxy and wondered why there was a green line running down the left side of the picture for twenty minutes? That was caused by someone out there mishandling the film and damaging it. That won’t happen with digital! We also wont have to worry about the digital disks getting broke in the shipping box. When that happens you get crummy stereo sound.
We will also have the capabilities to present movies in 3D. I know some of our patrons don't want digital, but if you would have seen Avatar in 3D, you would have been convinced it can be pretty awesome.
New digital surround sound in the auditorium! We know the benefits of that are pretty self explanatory. Better sound makes for a better movie-going experience! Our current sound system was cutting edge 30 years ago, you would love the hear the cutting edge now!
We know our seats aren’t the most comfortable in the world, and we also know we don’t have cup holders. Both of those things will change if we can raise this money. Seats come at a small cost with this upgrade. The main cost here is the digital upgrade
We need to succeed with this Kickstarter Campaign to make these things happen! We have racked our brains and need your help for The Roxy to stay around! She has been in business for 73 years and was saved from a wreaking ball a few times in her life. I know together we can do it again, so please donate what you can.
