On the way to Featherville to evacuate our family's cabin in light of the approaching Trinity Ridge Fire, I noticed this bald eagle perched along side Anderson Ranch. He appeared to be watching the spectacle unfolding in front of him....surrounded by the haze. Our family cabin has been in our family for 30 years, built from the ground up and handed down by my Grandmother -- so you can imagine the emotional place I was in during my trip up there -- but was able to stop and take a few breaths while observing this eagle up close, taking a moment to marvel at the spectacle of the smoke filled valley and approaching fire.
