The Bee Swarm at Selway Apartments is now in a hive. Local Bee Keepers Joe Leckie and unfortunately, I did not get the other gentleman's name, arrived and assisted the swarm into a new home. There were many Selway residents present, both adults and kids. All were amazed at how calm the bees remained during the process. The Bee Keepers provided education that can not come from a video and estimated that there were 3-4000 bees in this swarm. We all stood with in inches of the hive and felt comfortable letting the bees fly around with the advice, direction and assurance of the bee keepers. The hive will sit for a couple hours and allow the bees to settle and those outside to come in before it will be picked up and taken to its new location. Thank you both for your time and service.
If you find a swarm, leave then alone and do what I did. Go the the Treasure Valley Beekeepers Club website at www.idabees.com. When I clicked on services, there was a map that showed locations of beekeepers. I clicked on the one closest to me and got Joe's phone number.
