Recipe for Croque-Madame
1 whole loaf of Brioche (or some other rich bread like sourdough)
2 slices Black Forest ham (each sandwich)
2 slices Swiss cheese (each sandwich)
1 egg (each sandwich)
2 tsp cooking oil
French toast batter (recipe follows)
French Toast Batter
2 cups whole milk
1/4 cup powdered sugar
(1) Cut bread into half-inch slices and build sandwich (cheese, ham, bread) and dip into the French toast batter. (2) Sauté sandwich in butter for 4 minutes per side.
(3) Fry egg in 2 tsp oil (over easy recommended).
(4) Put egg on top of sandwich and garnish with huckleberry jam and powdered sugar.
