Chef Lou's Crostini w/ apples

Crostini with apples

Ingredients

 

 

20 Slices thick crusted bread(preferably baguette), ½ inch thick, 1-2 inches wide

 

1 cup heavy cream.

1 tablespoon chopped Garlic

2 tablespoons melted butter

Salt & pepper, to taste

 

½ cup fresh mozzarella cheese, drained

1-2 tablespoons fresh chopped Basil

1 apple, sliced thin

 

 

Method

Preheat a gas broiler or grill. Toast bread on both sides till brown. Take bread off grill and set aside.

 

In a saucepan, heat butter and garlic. Cook until garlic browns and add cream. Turn heat to low and reduce by half, about 5 minutes.

 

Spread garlic cream mixture on each slice of toast. Coat each slice with mozzarella cheese. Toast under an oven broiler or cheese melter.  Remove from broiler and top with apple slices and chopped basil. Serve immediately.
