Right now, Idaho lawmakers are one step closer to making texting while driving illegal in our state. Statistics show nearly 500,000 people are injured and 6,000 are killed each year in the U.S. because drivers are talking, texting and e-mailing behind the wheel.

Most people seem to think a texting ban in Idaho makes sense, but Oprah Winfrey is taking that a step further. She's asking viewers to sign the "NO PHONE ZONE" pledge. You may have seen it on her show right here on KTVB...

Basically it's a pledge to not use your phone while you drive.
But, you can commit to three different levels of that - you can pledge to not text while you drive, pledge to not text while driving and only use handsfree calling, or pledge to not use your phone at all while you are behind the wheel.
The campaign is really catching on - over 150,000 people have signed the pledge so far.
