Ian Johnson is one of the most famous former Boise State Broncos there is. He was a star running back, and made college football history by scoring that dramatic 2-point conversion in overtime in the upset win over Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl.
He also made big national news when he proposed to his girlfriend, cheerleader Chrissy Popadics - on the field right after the game!
By now, we all know Chrissy said YES.
Ian has moved on now to start his pro career with the Minnesota Vikings. Right now he's working hard on the practice squad - but he still keeps his Boise fans close.
On Facebook, I asked him to give us all an update on how he's doing in Minnesota, and what he's up to for the holidays. He was game for it, and being the same good guy he's always been - he wrote me back last night:
So far things have been amazing in Minnesota. The people here are a lot like Boise. Just good caring people. This really makes me miss Boise, my home.
As far as football, things are going great. I've learned so much and definitely grown as an athlete. I'm really excited for what is to come, especially the holidays. My job calls for me to work the upcoming holidays so I wont be traveling anywhere, but I'm excited to spend them with my wife Chrissy. She's going to be cooking our first Thanksgiving turkey, I'm sure it will be amazing.
The only other thing going on is I just joined a group of professional athletes trying to reach out to their hometown fans. We all signed up for a new company called MogoTXT.com. When people visit the website, they can sign up for a free daily text message from their favorite athletes. This is great because I can send fans messages and they can send me messages back. I'm really excited about this as well!
I did some research on MogoTXT.com and it does look really neat. Check it out! You can get a daily text message from Ian, and from your other favorite pro athletes:
