So many of us were devastated to hear about the Barbacoa fire early this month. Many of you have asked me what you can do to help the 120 employees who are now out of work. Well, there is something you can do! Local downtown business owner Ted Challenger is hosting a fundraiser at China Blue TONIGHT to raise money for the Barbacoa Employee Trust Fund. Ted's goal is to raise $40,000! With all the Barbacoa fans out there, I bet we can do it...
Barbacoa Employee Fundraiser
DATE: TONIGHT - Friday, January 22
TIME: 5pm to 11pm
LOCATION: China Blue - Downtown Boise
COST: $20 per person
The Barbacoa employees will be taking over all the jobs at China Blue - serving up their special cocktails, and serving some of Barbacoa's signature menu items, and that includes the famous AMAZING guacamole! There will be tons of prizes, entertainment, and an auction. Drinks will be only $1.00. That includes Martinis, wine and beer.
All proceeds will go to the Barbacoa Employee Trust Fund managed by Key Bank.
If anyone would like to become an event sponsor, please call Ted Challenger at 724-0710
This is a recent email from Barbacoa's owner Robert Castoro:
"Thank you sincerely for taking the time to write and express your well wishes and support. Your letters have been the kite that has lifted our spirits through these "character building" times.
Thank you to those who have provided jobs for our outstanding staff. Collectively to date, you have provided approximately 40 jobs with another 20 promised for the reconstruction phase of Barbacoa. That is already ½ our staff in only three days. THANK YOU.
The reconstruction phase is already well under way and we have a target reopen date of November 1, 2010.
To those who hold gift cards, they will be fully redeemable upon reopening and do not expire.
To All, thank you again for your continued support. We look forward to serving you soon."
Sincerely yours,
Robert Castoro
