On Thursday, the public memorial for Micron CEO Steve Appleton will be held at Taco Bell Arena. Appleton died in a plane crash at the Boise Airport on Friday, February 3rd at the age of 51.
He was piloting a fixed wing, single engine kit aircraft when the plane went down. Appleton started working at Micron in 1983, after graduating from Boise State University. He started on the production line, and rose through the ranks to become the company's COO in 1991. He was named CEO of Micron in 1994. He is survived by his wife, and four children.
The memorial starts at 10 a.m. - and it's open to the public. Several people will be speaking at the service, including Governor Butch Otter, BSU President Doctor Bob Kustra, BSU Tennis Coach Greg Patton, and the newly named Micron CEO Mark Durcan.
