Four high schools in the Boise School District are part of a big community service project this week! They are working on Project Unify, a major effort to put an end to the use of the "R" word. It's all about acceptance, inclusion and awareness. People with disabilities are often targeted with the "R" word. These high schools are pushing to make it known that it's not okay!

Capital, Timberline, Boise and Borah high schools are partnering with Special Olympics Idaho for this special project. Students will be asking other students to donate a dollar, and pledge NOT to use the "R" word. Students will actually sign pledge cards that will be posted for all to see at school.

This Friday, during all the high school football games played at Bronco Stadium, students will show support for ending the use of the "R" word for good. Many will wear t-shirts that say "End the R Word". Student volunteers will also be asking fans to take this special pledge, and to donate a dollar to the cause.

Proceeds will be donated to Special Olympics Idaho. For more information on Project Unify click HERE.

If you want your school to be a part of Project Unify, call Shanna Endow at 208-724-1717 or e-mail her at sendow@idso.org.
