Three Peregrine Falcon chicks hatched right on top of a building in downtown Boise this week!
Their nesting area and a webcam is located on the 14th floor of the One Capital Center Building. What's really neat is, you can watch them 24 hours a day online. There is also a monitor in the lobby, where you can stop in and watch the "Falcon Cam" too!
This is a rare sight. Right now, there are only about 24 Peregrine breeding pairs around our state. Last year, four babies hatched. This year, there are three! There is another egg that has yet to hatch. That should happen at anytime now.
The adult peregrine falcons will continue to sit on the new babies to keep them cozy and warm. The chicks will start growing fast, and they will need to be fed a lot - so we'll get to see a lot of action on the webcam. The adult falcons will be bringing food back into the nest box all the time - so expect to see a lot of activity in the coming days and weeks.
