8-year-old Gage Driskell of Parma, Idaho has been through a lot in the last three months. Back in March, he had some headaches and went to the doctor. His family was devastated to learn he had a malignant brain tumor. He had surgery to remove the tumor, and now this little boy has to have chemotherapy for the next year. Gage also has a lot of rehabilitation to undergo. He needs to relearn how to speak and move the way he used to. It's a challenge he's ready to take on!
I had the amazing opportunity to meet this little guy, and squeeze his hand at St. Luke's Children's Hospital. His Dad is upbeat, and ready to get his little boy well again. He needs all the support he can get. I know this community is more than willing to step up and help. That's just what we do.
Gage plans to come home from the hospital June 8th. The problem is Gage's home is in need of repairs, and lots of them. Right now, Parma volunteers are busy working on bringing the home up to standards for him. Parma Police Chief Albert Erickson is overseeing the home repair and remodel. He says they still need donation items to make this happen in time for Gage's homecoming. You can be a part of it!
