On Friday night, Doug Petcash and I had the honor of emceeing the local Susan G. Komen affiliate's Breast Cancer Survivor Celebration. It was such a special night. We met so many amazing survivors, and heard so many incredible survivor stories.
Doug Petcash, Heidi Marble, Maggie O'Mara
The speaker simply blew me away. Her name is Heidi Marble. She was SO inspirational, and her story was so raw. At 34, she was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer. Her chances of survival were low. She had just had a son two years before, and she knew she had to fight this cancer to raise her baby boy.
In this picture, she asked her friend to write this message on her back. I will survive...
She did. She took breast cancer head on. It was a grueling fight, but she won. That was thirteen years ago, and she's still here. She's now an author and public speaker, spreading her message of inspiration and determination to women across the country. She has told her story at over 100 events. We were lucky to hear it at the Survivor Celebration Friday night at Boise State.
Here is a video of her from her website. If you'd like to learn more about Heidi, you can. Just go to her website by clicking HERE.
