Did you happen to enjoy a warm bowl of soup at the Empty Bowls fundraiser at the Grove Plaza on Friday? If so, you helped sell out all that soup! The event only last for four hours, but the response was HUGE.
Listen to this... the fundraiser brought in $30,500 dollars for the Idaho Foodbank! That is a 22% increase from last year. The money raised selling soup in that single day, will provide over 91,000 meals for the hungry in our community. Pretty incredible.
1600 bowls were handcrafted for the event, and hundreds of people waited in line to pick out their favorite one. The soup was donated by a number of generous local restaurants in Boise. Dozens of volunteers helped keep the line moving. The Idaho Foodbank wants to say THANK YOU to all who took part.
If you didn't get to go this year, there's always next year! It's an annual tradition. Next year will be the 15th year for Empty Bowls!
