How would you like to be a volunteer this summer - and make a difference for kids in Idaho who are battling cancer and their families? This is your chance. Camp Rainbow Gold is putting out the call for volunteers right now!
On the outside, the American Cancer Society's Camp Rainbow Gold camps look just like any other summer camps - fishing, hiking, camp fires, crafts, laughter and the chance to make lasting friendships. But what makes these camps extra special, is the amazing volunteers who come together to help these kids and families enjoy life and forget about cancer for a while.
You may be just what they are looking for!
There are three camps offered this summer that you can be involved with:
Camp Rainbow Gold Oncology Camp: A haven for children ages six through 17 who have been diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives. Camp Rainbow Gold allows children the opportunity to experience the joys of summer camp in a safe and beautiful environment. There are two camps, one for teenagers and one for kids.
Teen Oncology Camp
July 25 - 30, 2010
For children diagnosed with cancer ages 13-17
Youth Oncology Camp
August 1-6, 2010
For children diagnosed with cancer ages 6-12
Camp Rainbow Gold Sibling Camp
July 18 - 23, 2010
This camp is for sisters and brothers of kids diagnosed with cancer
Camp Rainbow Gold Family Camp
June 10 - 13, 2010
This camp gets the whole family involved. It's For the immediate family of a child diagnosed with cancer
*All camps are FREE to all campers and take place over the summer in the Sawtooth National Forest near Ketchum, Idaho
There are some guidelines:
*You must be able to attend the weekend volunteer training at Cathedral Pines camp on May 22nd and 23rd.
*You must be able to attend the entire week of camp.
*You must pass a background check.
*You must be 21 years old.
