He brought us BODO - can developer Mark Rivers do it again?
He wants to attract major sporting events here to Idaho, so now he's created the Boise Sports Council... a organization dedicated to raising Boise's profile as a place to host major sports competitions and recreational events. He's teaming up with Olympic Gold Medalist Kristin Armstrong and an impressive group of council members to get the job done!
"There is no better time than now to harness our special sports assets into new economic strategies and opportunity. In this challenging economy, we'd be remiss not to try and grow this industry and our area's event hosting upside. We've got the history, the resources and the engaged community that can drive tourism, commerce, and further enhance our global profile."
- Mark Rivers, Developer
The group plans to do the following:
Attract new and international events:
*2011 USA Cycling Championships
*Skiing, snowboarding and rafting events
Engage the community:
*The council will launch a new website in February called www.SportsBoise.com
Support and advocate growth in the sports and recreation industry:
*The council is creating an economic development kit and outreach campaign
