I got a very interesting e-mail from my former KTVB co-anchor Ryan Panitz this week. He's reading the new book "No Easy Day" - written by a former member of SEAL Team 6. It's about the day the team took out Osama Bin Laden. You may have heard about it, because this book has been surrounded by controversy. The SEALs aren't happy about it, because what happens on missions is meant to stay top secret. The former SEAL who wrote it is not very popular in military circles right now. Much of his story is being disputed. In fact, the Pentagon has threatened the former SEAL with legal action for breaking a secrecy agreement that all SEALs hold sacred.
In Chapter 7 of the book, Ryan told me there's a mention of Idaho's captured POW Bowe Bergdahl. Apparently this former Navy SEAL describes a mission to find and rescue him from the Taliban in back in 2009. It's on pages 107-116. The mission didn't pan out. Is his version of this story true? We don't know that yet.
"No Easy Day" is now available in stores. It came out this week. You can read the LA Times review about the book HERE. It's an interesting read.
Here is Justin Corr's story on the mention of Bowe in the book:
