What a historic day this is... we're all witnessing history in the making. Seeing the crowds in Washington DC is incredible. Over two million people? It doesn't matter who you voted for - it's just a "Wow" kind of a day. Isn't it? It will be hard not to be glued to the TV all day long. Thank goodness my job allows that... one of the perks of being in television news. It's OK to watch news at work!
You can watch LIVE coverage all morning long here on KTVB.com and on Channel 7. Barack Obama will take the oath at 10am - our time. He will use the same bible that Abraham Lincoln used! Talk about history...
It's so cold in DC, that our live reporter there (David Cassidy) had this weird little pop-up tent thing that he used to keep warm in between live reports with us. He would finish his report, pop it open and get in it. Then come back out when we needed him! I felt sorry for him, for just a minute, until I realized he is THERE seeing it all unfold in person. Such a wonderful opportunity, especially if you are in our business. It's a reporter's dream. Pop-up tent or not. :)
Yesterday, I was off for MLK day. (Sorry, no blog!) I had the chance to watch the "I Have a Dream" speech in it's entirety on CNN, and it was just amazing. I don't think I've watched the WHOLE thing since grade school. It brought a tear to my eye... what an incredible man he was. What a speaker... what an inspiration for all of us.
Some good news today... we may just see some BLUE SKY! Joni Shriver is in for Larry this week, he's on vacation - and she says it may happen in the late afternoon. But it won't stay long....
Have a good Tuesday!
