Lucky Lottery Winners

Can I tell you a secret? I love my job and I feel very lucky to do what I do... but it's not always easy to dish out the BAD, and SAD news. That's why I love it when we have the chance to tell you all about some GOOD stuff. The HAPPY stuff! And I'm about to do just that with this story!

Two local families won a total of $300k in The Idaho Lottery!

Angela Burt is a single mom from Bellvue, Idaho who won $200k! She told us she just felt the urge to buy the last scratch off ticket in the dispenser at "Guffy's" - she works there too. BTW, Guffy's will get $20k for selling the ticket to Angela. She probably sold it to herself! It's a win-win situation for everyone... she says she plans to buy a new car, and put money away for college for her kids!

Ron and Alice Howard of Emmett are also big winners! They won $100k on a scratch ticket Friday.

The couple bought the winning ticket at Scogan's Food Mart in Emmett. Scogan's will get $12k for selling the ticket! Ron works for the Gem County Road Dept. He and his wife are now looking at retirement options. Congrats!

(Note to self: Buy Idaho Lottery Tix at Guffy's and Scogan's)

BLAST FROM THE PAST

Remember when Treasure Valley local Brad Duke won the 220 MILLION DOLLAR Powerball Jackpot? WOW! He pocketed 85 MILLION after taxes. You know what? He's also a NICE guy! He still lives here... and I see him at charity events from time to time donating his cash to good causes:

Have you ever wondered how he's spending all that DOUGH? He's pretty shy about it all, but I did some research and according to Fortune Magazine - here's how:

$45 million: Safe, low-risk investments such as municipal bonds
$35 million: Aggressive investments like oil and gas and real estate
$1.3 million: A family foundation
$63,000: A trip to Tahiti with 17 friends
$125,000: Mortgage on his 1,400-square-foot house
$18,000: Student-loan repayment
$65,000: New bicycles, including a $12,000 BMC road bike
$14,500: A used black VW Jetta
$12,000: Annual gift to each family member

His goal: to use his winnings to become a billionaire! I think he may just do that....

Local Nascar "Up and Coming" Star!

So... did you know Boise, Idaho can lay claim to a NASCAR TRUCK SERIES racer?

Brian Scott.jpg
Brian Scott

21 year old Brian Scott is a native Boisean and he's the great grandson of Joe Albertson. He's always wanted to race... and now he does it for a living. I've had the chance to talk to him a few times, and he's a sweet, down to earth guy too. (His mom raised him right!) His truck has the Albertson's Logo displayed along the side with pride:

This Boise High School grad is making Idaho proud! His next race is this coming Saturday at the Martinsville Speedway for the Kroger 250. It will be fun to watch his career grow!

PS. You can watch a full report on Brian by KTVB's Zach Wolken online right now on the home page...

ENJOY YOUR TUESDAY!
