At least two Treasure Valley high school cheer squads have earned their place in the state cheer competition.  How do we know this?  They sent us photos from the qualifying dance competition via KTVB.COM First Person!

The entire cheer squad from Rocky Mountain High School, as well as the Bishop Kelly Varsity Competitive Cheer Squad, competed and placed first in their respective categories at the 2011 Treasure Valley Cheerleading Invitational held at Mountain View High School.

Check out these photos sent to us by First Person photographer Heather Rodin, who was rooting for Rocky Mountain at the competition.  Heather is a friend of parent Michelle Schilli, who tells us her daughter's cheer squad brought home first place in every category they entered at the invitational, qualifying them for state with all three of their performances.

The next photos were sent to us by First Person photographer Rachel Birr.  Rachel is a proud parent of a Bishop Kelly cheerleader.

Rachel said the Bishop Kelly Varsity Competitive Cheer Squad received first place in the "show cheer" category and will be competing at the state competition.  It is quite the feat considering the team is working with a new coach this season.  Rachel told us that when Amy Eisele jumped on board as coach, she decided she wanted the cheer squads to compete at a higher level.  That is why the Varsity Competitive Cheer Squad was formed.

We would like to thank these proud parents for sharing their stories, and photos with us at KTVB.COM First Person.

You can cheer these teams on by attending the ICDC State Cheer & Dance/Drill Championships.  It will be held at the Idaho Center on March 19.

You can also upload your photos and video by clicking here.  We just might feature them in our next First Person Photoblog!
