It looks like this will be our sixth day over 100 degrees. That means it's time to take some time to check on the people who may be having a hard time with this extreme heat.
On the News at Noon today we gave out some warning signs for HEAT STROKE and HEAT EXHAUSTION:
Body unable to cool.
Develops after days of exposure to high temperatures and inadequate fluids.
A hot body temp (103 degrees)
Paleness
Hot dry skin
No sweating or heavy sweating
Skin cool/moist
Rapid, strong pulse
Fast, weak pulse
Throbbing headache
Dizziness, Fainting
Nausea or vomiting
Fast, shallow breathing
Weakness, Tiredness
Muscle cramps
To prevent the above make sure and hydrate.
Paramedics say divide your weight in half and drink that many ounces of water a day!
