Snakes in Idaho!

It’s just about time most of us start getting out on the trails to do a little hiking in the hills. 

But before you go -- be sure to look out for snakes!

While it’s rare to come across a rattlesnake in the Boise Foothills -- it is possible.   Here at KTVB, we found that out this week on the News at Noon.

Corbin Maxey (known as the Reptile Guy) appeared on our show to tell viewers about three snakes native to Idaho.

They include:
 
The Western Terrestrial Garter Snake (you’ve likely seen this one before around your yard)
The Gopher Snake (looks like a rattlesnake but is not poisonous)
The Great Basin Rattlesnake (the real deal)

I think Corbin does a great job of telling us why we need these creatures in our environment, and also why we need to be wary of them. Here’s the interview with Corbin:
