So, what wise wisdom did your mom dish out when you were a kid?
"If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all." That came from my mother quite often and I must admit I've repeated it quite often to my own sons.
Now, a new book is being released that will shed more light on those "mommisms" we all grew up hearing.
Idaho author Patti Murphy has compiled a book called, "Mother Knows Best - Wit and Wisdom from Idaho Moms." She and her publisher Elaine Ambrose joined me on the News at Noon this week to talk about how they got Idaho women to contribute their mom's favorite sayings.
Here are some of them:
“You're a winner no matter the score if you played your game.”
Lois Easley, Submitted by Idaho First Lady Lori Otter
"Keep your feet on the ground."
Marian Radding, Submitted by Barbara Morgan, Idaho teacher and American astronaut
"Friends are like clothes. Not all sizes fit.”
Margret Kasiva Kituku, Submitted by Vincent Vincent Muli Wa Kituku
The book even contains wise words from the mothers of KTVB employees. I submitted some of my mom's favorite sayings and so did Maggie O'Mara and KTVB.COM producer Kelsey Jacobson.
The book will be released next Friday May 6th. The premier party is at Berryhill and Co from 5:30pm-8pm.
Here's a really neat thing Patti and Elaine are doing with this book. Proceeds from the sale of the book will benefit the Women's and Children's Alliance in honor of their 100th anniversary
Again, the book is "Mother Knows Best - Wit and Wisdom from Idaho Moms."
