KTVB's investigative reporter did not have to search very hard to find the beauty of vacationing in Hawaii. Jamie Grey took some incredible pictures while visiting the islands. Here's the latest look at where KTVB staff spend time in the summer.

Jamie Grey:

In June, I went on an awesome vacation with my family to Hawaii.  We were on the island of Kauai for a week and did SO much.  I had never been before, so it was quite an adventure.

We stayed on the south side of the island.  I enjoyed watching the surfers but wasn’t quite up to trying that myself!  The waves were pretty intimidating.  I was happy with my feet in the sand, just reading my books.

I saw some of the most beautiful sunsets and of course, being a journalist, had to document the whole thing.  We also went to the Waimea Canyon – you can see a photo of me getting a noogie from my ‘little’ brother while we were there!

One of the coolest things we did was take a catamaran tour to the side of the island that you can’t get to by land.  It’s amazing how different parts of the island really look so different.  While on the boat trip, we saw several pairs of dolphins swimming under our boat.

The north side of the island was also amazing and really green.  We spent some time shopping there and checking out the beaches.  Another photo you will see is from a luau where we saw a Polynesian dance and theater performance.

On one of our last days, I went zip lining for the first time.  The area we went was beautiful!  It was near where Jurassic Park was filmed – and the opening shot in the M*A*S*H credits!  You can see a photo of me doing the zip line in the slide show.  I loved it – definitely going again.

I have to mention the flowers!  I love tropical flowers, and I took photos of dozens of them.  I’m planning to frame some for my house, but it will be tough to decide which ones!

Last, I have to mention one of the craziest things:  While I was getting lunch one day, I found out the server was from Middleton!  Such a small world, and it was nice to run into some Idaho on the island.

Enjoy the pictures, and if you’re going, I’d be happy to share some of my favorite places!

Aloha!
Jamie
