Sometimes in this business, you just have to keep your mouth shut.
That has been the case for me when it comes to these new Nike uniforms for the Broncos.
About two weeks ago, I was able to arrange an interview with Nike's Creative Director of Football. We spent time talking and walking around the Nike campus in Beaverton, Oregon.
Todd Van Horne gave a great interview, but there was one problem...I couldn't share it with you until TODAY!
Now that Nike has officially released what the Bronco's will wear in the opener against Georgia, here are three facts that stood out to me.
- The hammer! Look close, you'll see it on the outside of the uniform. Yes, that's to represent the famous sledge hammer that is carried onto the field before each game.
- Unique protection! Nike doesn't call it a Pro Combat System of Dress for nothing. The materials used to protect the athletes are suppose to be the best of the best. All of it tested by science type guys and athletes in a top secret lab on the Nike campus.
- Finally, no two uniforms are alike! Well, that's stretching it a bit. Actually no two positions' uniforms are alike. Special protection and cuts are made for each position. So Kellen's quarterback uniform isn't the same as the guy on the O-line.
Our sports reporter Jay Tust will give you more information on the News at 6 and 10.
Then as they say, stay tuned. I'll have the full interview from the Nike campus during our live coverage in Georgia next week.
