A big SHOUT-OUT to one of the newest members on our staff.

KTVB's Natalie Podgorski has just been honored with two journalism awards.

They come from the Broadcasters Education Association Festival of Media Arts.  It is an international journalism competition that professors and students can enter.

Natalie did her award winning work at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University. It wasn't long ago that she was a student there. Natalie graduated this past  December and joined us just weeks later in January of 2011. Wow, finding what we call "a real job in TV" that quickly is an award winning feat in itself.

But, back to Natalie and these significant awards. She won the Best of Festival Award for Student News and she took home first place in the Student News Feature category. Natalie's work was selected from a pool of 913 entries from 143 colleges and universities.

Both awards were for her story on Garage Boxing. It's about an Arizona man who coaches boxing out of his garage.  He is an ex-convict and coaches boxing because he wanted to give the kids something to do so they wouldn’t get into trouble.

Here's a look at her winning entry: Best of Festival and First: Television Feature News Reporting
