This Saturday’s Beat Coach Pete race/walk is shaping up to set a record.
That’s the word from BSU’s Brad Larrondo.
I checked in with mid-week and here are the numbers he gave me:
Runners now number close to 1,700, with the goal being 2,000 by Saturday, which is the max allowed on the Greenbelt by the city.
It's the precise reason the walkers will start about 10 minutes after the runners, so this event won't be capped at 2,000 with the staggered start times.
More than 500 walkers have already signed up, joining nearly 400 Boise State students as well for what should easily be the largest race in Beat Coach Pete half decade history.
The race is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m., in front of the Student Rec Center at Boise State and will finish inside Bronco Stadium.
The KTVB news crew will be covering this event on our Saturday Morning News from 8 -10 a.m. Our sports guy, Ryan Larronodo is running to Beat Coach Pete.
And here’s the bonus for BSU football fans: All race participants will receive free admission to the Spring Game Saturday night by showing their race bib or number.
The scrimmage starts at 5:00 pm.
I’ll see you Saturday morning-Carolyn
