In our family there is a deep love for athletics and competition.  Now, one of our own is going to get to see that kind of action up close and personal.  That's because our son-in-law, Otis Livingston, is one of the courtside reporters for this year’s March Madness.

KTVB's Tom Scott mentioned Otis in his popular 'Scott Slant' blog this week.  Tom wrote, "noticed this when I was scanning the TV broadcast teams for the NCAA Tournament. One of the sideline reporters: Otis Livingston.  Is that the Otis Livingston who played hoops at the University of Idaho? The Otis Livingston who wanted to get into broadcasting and once worked the front desk at KTVB?  Yes, that Otis Livingston.  He’s now the sports director at WCBS-TV in New York. How do you like them (big) apples?

What Tom wrote was point-on about Otis.  Check out this great picture that Otis tweeted showing where he'll get to see the games this weekend.  He’s got the Columbus/Ohio match-ups for the West and Midwest regions. (TBS evening):  Memphis vs. Saint Louis; Michigan State vs. Long Island TV:  (TruTV afternoon): San Diego State vs. North Carolina State, and Georgetown vs. Belmont

When people at KTVB hear about Otis' success, I tell them he’s the most humble guy, and he keeps in very close contact with his father-in-law (my husband).  In the last few weeks he's been on the phone from Florida where he was covering the Yankees during Spring Training.  We even heard from Otis when he was minutes away from his live broadcast at the Superbowl!

Otis is a dedicated father of five who is married to the former Nikki Hawk, a graduate from Borah High and the University of Idaho.  She’s his rock!

There is one more Idahoan who has played a huge part in Otis working in the number one TV Market in the country.  Former KTVB General Manager, Mr. Robert E. Krueger gave Otis his first job at a TV station.  Yes, it was only to answer phones at KTVB, but it grew into so much more for Otis.  Mr. Krueger knew talent when he saw it.  He believed in Otis and helped launch his career.  I hope he gets to see Otis in action this weekend!
