This morning at 9 a.m. MT Time, President Obama called for a moment of silence for the victims and survivors of Saturday morning's shooting rampage in Tucson, Arizona.
I was in the ladies' gym at my health club at the time.
It was a honor to be there with other Idahoans.
An honor, because when the time came to reflect on the horrible events, everyone working out around me stopped and respected what others wanted to do.
The clanking noise of the weights stopped.
The whirling sound of the bikes quit.
It was quiet.
Silence took over the room.
We all spent that time the way we wanted to spend it.
I prayed for more peace in our world.
I'm not sure what others did.
But I know we all paused from our gym routines.
One loud message from today's moment of silence at the gym: we respected each other.
