BOISE -- The big question continues to linger. Who will replace Coach Petersen at Boise State?

There's been a lot of chatter today that a decision might be imminent.

Mark Johnson confirmed Tuesday that Dirk Koetter had a video conference interview with president Bob Kustra a day after his phone interview with athletic director Mark Coyle.

This on a day that former offensive coordinator and Boise native Bryan Harsin withdrew his name from consideration.

So, the short list KTVB reported Monday is down to two . . . or is it?

Boise State's "short" list:

  • Dirk Koetter, -  Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator
  • Justin Wilcox - UW defensive coordinator
  • The wildcard: Jeff Tedford -  former University of California coach

Reports out of Northern California close to the Cal program say Tedford interviewed Tuesday, and that this is now a 2-man race between Koetter and Tedford.

Tedford coached the Cal Bears for 11 seasons taking them to eight bowl games with the best season in 2006 and a 12th ranking after finishing tied for 1st in the (then) Pac 10.

He was fired after last year's season when the Bears won only three games.

Expect a decision to be made Wednesday and the introductory presser soon after.
