BOISE-- The Boise State football team will have a familiar face in the backfield for one more year. On Tuesday, the team confirmed that the NCAA has granted a medical hardship for runningback D.J. Harper, which will allow him one more year of eligibility.
Harper has been playing for the Broncos since the 2007 season, but had to sit out most of the 2009 and 2010 seasons due to two knee injuries. As a result, the NCAA will allow him to come back for the 2012 season. The ruling was expected by Boise State. Harper's name was not called on senior day this year.
Harper is expected to be the starting runningback next year for the Broncos. He has rushed for 24 touchdowns and 1,642 yards in his college career.
