BOISE -- The Utah State Aggies (10-2) will face the Toledo Rockets (9-3) on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the second-annual Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

2011 marked the MWC's rebranding of the game under a 6-year contract with the Idaho Potato Commission.

The storied event was previously known as the Humanitarian Bowl, among other names, and has been played at Bronco Stadium since 1997.

FAVORABLE ODDS FOR UTAH STATE

As 2012 WAC Champions, the Utah State Aggies boast an arguably better record than the Toldeo Rockets, who tied for second place in the Mid-American Conference.

The Aggies have several other factors going for them:

  • The team lost against the University of Ohio Bobcats in last year's Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, and are hungry for a win this year
  • Utah State Surprised football fans nationwide by beating Louisiana Tech
  • They team is led by 2012 WAC Coach of the Year Gary Anderson
  • Both RB Kirby Williams and QB Chuckie Keeton are offensive forces to be reckoned with

TOLEDO ROCKETS UNDERDOGS?

With a less-than stellar record in the MAC, Toledo players and coaches could be hard-pressed to defeat a strong Utah State team. However, the team is expected to field offensive stars QB Terrance Owens and nationally ranked RB David Fluellen -- both of which missed Toledo's final game against Akron due to injury.

The cost of tickets for the game start at $18 and go up based on age and section.

Bronco Stadium reserved, general, and accessible parking spots open at 8 a.m. and cost $20.

However, fans can park for free in several other locations in exchange for donations of non-perishable food and toiletry items. That's because Boise State is teaming up on the food drive with the Idaho Foodbank.

A donation of five items or about $10 dollars in value is suggested in exchange for parking. Click here for complete Famous Idaho Potato Bowl parking information.

The parking lot will open to tailgating at 8 a.m. and close one hour after the game concludes.

The Downtown Boise Association plans to offer free shuttle buses to Bronco Stadium. Shuttles run every 15 minutes for two hours prior to game time, and immediately after the game for one hour. For pickup and drop locations, see the Bronco Shuttle link on the association's web page.

ADDITIONAL TIPS FROM BPD

Police say illegal and overnight parking is prohibited in all Boise Parks. Nearby Julia Davis park closes at midnight, and cars may be towed after this time. Towing for all other illegal parking actions can happen any time.

However, BPD and Boise Parks and Rec. say towing will not happen until 2 a.m. for games that start after 7 p.m. during 2012's Bronco Football season.

Police also say alcohol and glass containers are prohibited in all parks, except for in designated park shelter areas by those with designated permits. Click here for more on Boise park safety regulations.

DONATING POTATOES FOR HUNGER

The Idaho Grower Shippers Association will donate three potatoes to the Idaho Foodbank for each fan attendee at the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl for the second-straight year.

With more than 30,000 fans projected to attend the game, the donation could be more than 90,000 potatoes or up to 42,000 lbs.
