BOISE -- The Broncos (5-3, 3-1) take on the Rams of Colorado State University (4-4, 2-1) on Saturday at 6 p.m. MDT in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Boise State saw its 50-game winning streak in the month of October come to an end on Friday with a 37-20 loss at BYU. Colorado State is coming off a 35-28 win against Hawaii, which marks the second consecutive Mountain West road win for the Rams for the first time since 2002.

The winning streak wasn't the only streak that came to an end that night for the blue and orange. The Broncos also lost to a team from the state of Utah for the first time in 21 games (last defeat was in 1997).

At his weekly press conference following the loss, Boise State head coach Chris Petersen praised BYU.  He also stressed the fact that his own team had a lot to work on, highlighting turnovers on offense and tackles on defense.

One factor that some think might come into play is elevation.  Colorado State's Hughes Stadium sits at an estimated 5,193 feet above sea level.  Bronco Stadium is estimated to be at 2,700 feet above sea level. But the Broncos don't seem to worry about the high altitude.  Redshirt senior Spencer Gerke commented that the Broncos don't do anything special to prepare for the altitude.

Here is a look back at the month of October:

RB - Jay Ajayi
The redshirt sophomore went over 100-yards rushing in all three games in October. He averaged 160.7 yards per game on the ground, which ranks 5th in the NCAA. It is also the most by a Bronco in a single month since Ian Johnson averaged 156.0 yards per contest over four games in Sept. 2006.
Ajayi had four rushing touchdowns in October, upping his season total to 12, tied (with eight others) for the most in the NCAA.

WR - Shane Williams-Rhodes
The speedy sophomore hauled in 28 passes over three games. He averaged 9.3 receptions per contest, the seventh most in the NCAA.
Williams-Rhodes has also been stellar on special teams. He is 12th in the NCAA with 173 punt return yards. Considering he only has nine returns through eight games, he's not eligible to make the national yards per punt return list. However, at 19.22 per return, he would rank fifth among players with at least nine returns on the season.

DE - Demarcus Lawrence
The junior registered 5.5 sacks in the month of October, including an NCAA single-game best 3.5 against Nevada on Oct. 19. His average of 1.83 sacks per game in the month ranked second in the NCAA, trailing only Stanford linebacker Trent Murphy (1.88).
Lawrence was on the preseason watch list for the Rotary Lombardi Award. Voting is currently underway and the 12 finalist will be announced on Nov. 7.

LB - Ben Weaver
The redshirt freshman linebacker continues to shine. He recorded a team-high 35 tackles in October. Weaver averaged 11.7 stops per game in the month, which is tied for the 11th most in the NCAA.

K - Dan Goodale
The junior continues to quietly have a nice season. His 77.8 touchback percentage was the fifth best in the NCAA during October. Of his 18 kickoffs, 14 were not returned, which ranks 11th in the country.
On the year, Goodale has made 90.9 percent (10-for-11) of his field goal attempts, which is tied for 12th best in the NCAA.
