BOISE -- The Boise State Broncos (7-3, 5-1) take on the San Diego State University Aztecs (6-4, 5-1) on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. MST in San Diego, California.

With the Broncos coming off a 48-7 win over Wyoming last Saturday, they now set their sights on the one Mountain West Conference team that beat them last year. The Aztecs handed the Broncos a 21-19 loss on the blue turf at Bronco Stadium.

One question the Bronco fans anxiously await the answer to is who will be under center for Boise State. On Monday, Boise State head coach Chris Petersen announced the senior quarterback Joe Southwick was back practicing after suffering a broken ankle four weeks ago. Petersen said at the time that Southwick hadn't been cleared to play yet, but that he would "be in the mix" when the doctors cleared him.

Grant Hedrick has played well in his role as starter since the injury. Hedrick has won three of four games that he played in, including a 48-7 win over Wyoming this past Saturday.

His backup, Grant Hedrick, has filled in well in his absence.

"I thought Grant was solid. You know, that's why I think it's so interesting at that quarterback position, you know you can take a couple steps forward in one week, and then maybe a step back in certain phases, but I thought he did some good things, made some good decisions. I think it'll be a real learning and growing situation for him. I really do," said Coach Pete during Monday's news conference.
