ATLANTA -- Former Boise State Bronco and current Atlanta Falcon tight-end Tommy Gallarda took part in a special Memorial Day tribute relay on Monday.
Gallarda helped carry a flag as part of the "Carry the Load" national relay.
Here, a group of veterans and special guests walk 2,000 miles throughout the month of May to raise money for families of fallen soldiers. The group also works to remind communities about the true meaning of Memorial Day.
Gallarda told members of the media that his dedication to the cause runs deep.
"It's across America that people have served," Gallarda said. "It's not just from one specific part of the country... "I think it's all of America coming together, showing that as they go through these communities that it doesn't matter which leg that you're at, but just that you can show respect and really thank them for what they're doing."
Carry the Load's goal is to raise $300,000 to support families of wounded soldiers. So far, the group has raised $180,000. You can find more information, and donate to the cause here.
