BOISE -- Boise State junior wide receiver Geraldo Boldewijn will sit out four games to start the 2012 season for violating NCAA extra benefit rules, BSU announced on Friday.

The school said that Boldewijn accepted assistance from his high school host family this past December in booking an airline flight home to the Netherlands following BSU’s bowl game in Las Vegas.

Boldewijn has since repaid the family for the flight, and will be reinstated in full following Boise State’s game against New Mexico.

Boldewijn is from Amsterdam, and played one year at Capital High School in 2009. As a sophomore, Boldewijn also missed four games due NCAA eligibility issues.

The Broncos also announced on Friday that senior center Cory Yriarte will no loner be able to play for BSU due to a knee injury suffered during summer conditioning drills. A sixth-year senior, Yriarte also had season ending knee injuries in 2009 and 2010.

Boise State opens fall camp tomorrow.
