LAS VEGAS, NV - "Field producer" might be one of the less descriptive titles in television news. The title sounds like it would fit right in on the farm -- gotta make sure that field is producing!
But the gig has a few perks (lots of trips on the road with Bronco Nation, primarily). For this trip I arrived a day after Jay Tust, Ryan Larrondo and photographer Mike di Donato. The crew did shows Sunday - and early hits Monday. I rolled in to the Freemont Street Experience about 8 p.m. The biggest part of the job is to make sure we get good stuff.
The Fremont Street Experience has a zip line that flies over the crowd several stories up. First order of business: put Jay & Ryan on the zip line with cameras. The team was game.
So we taped camera to their hands, put photographer Paul Boehlke at the finish line and worked with managers to get it all coordinated. The end result is some fun television - we'll show you Tuesday afternoon on News at Five and KTVB.COM.
A few other interesting notes:
- The Hard Rock Hotel is ready for Bronco Nation. It is hosting the team as well as many fans. Bright blue digital signs throughout the hotel sport the Boise State logo and welcome all the Vegas Bowl participants. The hotel gift shop is also selling t-shirts and other Boise State themed merchandise.
- Ely, NV is hoping for a little Bronco bonanza this week. Signs throughout the town, about halfway between Boise and Las Vegas, welcome fans. The local newspaper says businesses are hoping to be "Bronco Nation South" as road warriors make their way through the Nevada desert.
- The team participated in a dance off Monday night back at Fremont Street Experience. Receiver Doug Martin pulled out a dance move -- predictable -- he taught the crowd… "How to Dougie." See the video here.
